Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the universe, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
