Did not the disbelievers observe that the heavens and the earth were together, so We parted them, and we made every living thing from water? So will they not accept faith? 30 And [are they not aware that] We have set up firm mountains on earth, lest it sway with them, and [that] We have appointed thereon broad paths, so that they might find their way, 31 And We have made the heaven a roof, safe, and from the signs thereof they are averters. 32 It is He Who created the Night and the Day, and the sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course. 33 We have not granted everlasting life to any human being before you; then if you [Muhammad] should die, will they live forever? 34 Every soul must taste of death and We try you by evil and good by way of probation; and to Us you shall be brought back. 35 And when those who disbelieve behold thee they only take thee up for mockery: is this he who mentioneth your gods? while in the mention of the compassionate they are themselves blasphemers. 36 The human was created of haste. Indeed, I will show you My signs; so do not ask Me to hasten them. 37 They say: "When will this promise come to pass, if ye are telling the truth?" 38 If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided... 39 Aye! it would come upon them on a sudden and shall dumbfound them; they shall not be able to avert it, nor shall they be respited. 40 And indeed, [O Muhammad, even] before thy time have [God's] apostles been derided - but those who scoffed at them were [in the end] overwhelmed by the very thing which they had been wont to deride. 41
