EXHORT, then, [O Prophet, all men:] for, by thy Sustainer's grace, thou art neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Say, "Wait, I too am waiting with you". 31 Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious? 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 Let them bring a discourse like thereunto, if they say sooth. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and earth? Nay, but they have not sure faith. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or is it that [they who reject thy message, O Muhammad, fear lest] thou ask of them a reward, so that they would be burdened with debt [if they should listen to thee]? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped. 46 And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars. 49
