▼ 55 The All Compassionate
Al-Rahman 3 of 3
There are two gardens for one who fears standing before his Lord. 46 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 47 Containing all kinds (of trees and delights);- 48 Which of the favours of your Lord will you then deny? -- 49 In both of them, there are two springs flowing. 50 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 51 In which will be of every fruit two kinds. 52 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 53 Reclining on beds, the inner coverings of which are of silk brocade; and the fruits of the two gardens shall be within reach. 54 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 55 In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;- 56 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - 57 Like unto Rubies and coral. 58 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 59 Can the reward of goodness be any other than goodness? 60 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 61 And besides these two are two (other) gardens: 62 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? - 63 Of darkest verdant green -- 64 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 65 In them (each) will be two Springs pouring forth water in continuous abundance: 66 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 67 In them are fruits (of all kinds), and dates and pomegranate. 68 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 69 In these [gardens] will be [all] things most excellent and beautiful. 70 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 71 [There the blessed will live with their] pure companions sheltered in pavilions. 72 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 73 [companions] whom neither man nor invisible being will have touched ere then. 74 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?- 75 Reclining on green cushions and fair carpets. 76 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 77 Blessed be the Name of your Lord, Majestic, Splendid. 78

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
