In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 As justification or warning, 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives. 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be, and the earlier. 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 And such fruits as they desire. 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 For a known extent. 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 The living and the dead, 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 Proceed to that (the Day of Judgment) which you have rejected. 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 Indeed hell throws up sparks like huge castles. 32 Seeming like yellow camels. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe on the day unto the beliers! 40
