The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
