The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
