The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
