Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
