Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
