The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ O PROPHET FEAR God and do not follow the unbelievers and the hypocrites. 1 And keep following what is sent down to you from your Lord; O people! Indeed Allah is seeing your deeds. 2 Put your trust in God; God is sufficient as a Guardian. 3 God has not assigned to any man two hearts within his breast; nor has He made your wives, when you divorce, saying, 'Be as my mother's back,' truly your mothers, neither has He made your adopted sons your sons in fact. That is your own saying, the words of your mouths; but God speaks the truth, and guides on the way. 4 Call your adopted sons after their true fathers; that is more equitable in the sight of Allah. But if you do not know their true fathers, then regard them as your brethren in faith and as allies. You will not be taken to task for your mistaken utterances, but you will be taken to task for what you say deliberately. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Compassionate. 5 The Prophet has a higher claim on the believers than [they have on] their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. Blood relatives are closer to one another in God's Book than are believers and the Emigrants except that you want to show your friends a kindness. That is decreed in the Book. 6 And recall what time We took a bond from the prophets and from thee and from Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and 'Isa son of Maryam. And We took from them a solemn bond; 7 That he may question the truthful of their truth. And for the Infidels He hath gotten ready a torment afflictive. 8
