۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
