The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
