Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Lo! We sent Noah unto his people (saying): Warn thy people ere the painful doom come unto them. 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive your sins and give you a respite for an appointed time. When the time which God has appointed arrives, none will be able to postpone it. Would that you knew this!" 4 He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism). 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 And I told them: 'Ask your Lord to forgive you. He is verily forgiving. 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 He has created you by stages! 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
