The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
