The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
