Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
