The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 This has been happening all along. 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
