Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 And how many a Prophet have We sent amongst the men of old. 6 but not a Prophet came to them, without they mocked at him; 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
