The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
