The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a mighty Day. 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
