The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
