The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
