The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
