Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
