The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time]. 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 Thus do We make it to enter into the hearts of the guilty; 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 and even if We opened to them a door from heaven, and they began ascending through it, 14 They would surely say: intoxicated have been our sights; aye! we are a people enchanted. 15
