Alshu'araa' 2 of 11
And (remember) when your Lord said to Moosa, “Go to the unjust people.” 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. 21 Is this then the blessing with which you reproach me, that you have the Children of Israel for worshipers' 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 Said Moosa, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers preceding you.” 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
