And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 We have placed in it gardens of date palms and vines, and caused springs to gush [forth] from it, 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Holy is He Who created all things in pairs, whether it be of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they do not know. 36 And a Sign for them is the Night: We withdraw therefrom the Day, and behold they are plunged in darkness; 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 It behoves not the sun to overtake the moon, neither does the night outstrip the day, each swimming in a sky. 40 And a token unto them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 And if We will, We drown them, and there is no help for them, neither can they be saved; 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 When it is said to them: "Beware of what is before you and what is past, that you may be treated with kindness;" 45 Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it! 46 And when it is said unto them: expend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: shall we feed those whom God Himself would have fed, if He listed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 They also say: 'When will this promise be, if what you say is true' 48 They must be waiting for but one single blast, which will overtake them while they are still disputing. 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
