Victory (Al-Fatt-h)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We have granted to you, (Muhammad), a manifest victory, 1 That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the past and those to follow; fulfil His favour to thee; and guide thee on the Straight Way; 2 and so that God might bestow on you His mighty help. 3 It is He who sent down the Shechina (tranquillity) into the hearts of the believers, that they might add faith to their faith -- to God belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth; God is All-knowing, All-wise -- 4 (From His Wisdom) He admits the believers, both men and women, into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, there to live for ever, and acquit them of their sins that with Allah is a mighty triumph 5 And may punish the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women, and the idolatrous men and the idolatrous women, who think an evil thought concerning Allah. For them is the evil turn of fortune, and Allah is wroth against them and hath cursed them, and hath made ready for them hell, a hapless journey's end. 6 To Allah belong the armies of the heavens and the earth. Allah is the Almighty and the Wise. 7 VERILY, [O Muhammad,] We have sent thee as a witness [to the truth,] and as a herald of glad tidings and a warner 8 That you may believe in Allah and His Apostle and may aid him and revere him; and (that) you may declare His glory, morning and evening. 9 Verily those who plight their fealty to thee do no less than plight their fealty to Allah: the Hand of Allah is over their hands: then any one who violates his oath, does so to the harm of his own soul, and any one who fulfils what he has covenanted with Allah,- Allah will soon grant him a great Reward. 10
