Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
