(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or is it that [they who reject thy message, O Muhammad, fear lest] thou ask of them a reward, so that they would be burdened with debt [if they should listen to thee]? 40 Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or do they have a god apart from God? He is too exalted for what they associate with Him! 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 So leave them till they encounter their Day in which they shall be thunderstruck. 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it. 47 And wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, for surely you are before Our eyes, and sing the praise of your Lord when you rise; 48 And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back. 49
