Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
