The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
