He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
