The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
