Alshu'araa' 2 of 11
And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty." 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 Said Firaun, “This (Noble) Messenger of yours, who has been sent towards you, has no intelligence!” 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." 29 (Moses) said: "Even though I have brought to you something convincing?" 30 Said Firaun, “Then bring it, if you are of the truthful.” 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 33
