And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
