The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
