And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
