S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. 7 "What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"... but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment! 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 and Thamood, and the people of Lot, and the men of the Thicket - those were the parties; 13 Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, 14
