Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In high empyrean 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
