۞ No sooner the example of the son of Mary was mentioned than, lo and behold, your people raised a clamour 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). 59 And if We willed, We could have established angels on the earth instead of you. 60 It is the knowledge of the Hour. Have no doubt concerning it, and follow me. This is a Straight Path, 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 Assuredly God is my Lord and your Lord; therefore serve Him; this is a straight path.' 64 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! 65 Await they aught save the Hour, that it shall come upon them suddenly, when they know not? 66 On that Day, [erstwhile] friends will be foes unto one another - [all] save the God-conscious. 67
