The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 shun uncleanness; 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
