The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 a written record, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
