The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
