The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
