The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
