So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
