The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
