The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
